Remaking News of the Week: Rise of LawTech Hubs highlights the Asia-Pacific aspects of a feature in Raconteur and my own post on LawTech hubs in the Asia-Pacific.

Singapore

The Singapore Academy of Law has set out a vision inter alia of ‘Singapore as a leader in cutting-edge legal tech’ and last year launched a LawTech accelerator and, among other initiatives, appointed Dialogue contributor Mark Cohen as Thinker in Residence.

Hong Kong

Hosting hacks, e.g. the International Legal Hackers Summit and an A2J  hackathon, and the active role of the Law Society of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Blockchain Festival are contributing to the thriving startup community. The success of Decoding Law in the 2018 Global Legal Hackathon was a great local motivator.

Australia

Earlier this month I reported on the new LawTech Hub in Melbourne by Lander & Rogers in partnership with YBF Ventures. This initiative creates another Australian node with the Allens Hub for Technology, Law and Innovation which also home to FLIP Stream, the joint initiative of UNSW Law and the Law Society of New South Wales.
